So, here are the Top 4 Best LG Soundbars Of 2022.
#1. LG SP11RA
The LG SP11RA is the best LG soundbar we’ve tested. This premium 7.1.4 setup supports Dolby Atmos content and comes with an AI Room Calibration feature that automatically optimizes the setup’s sound according to the unique acoustics of the room it’s placed in. With this feature enabled, it has a slightly boomy, though overall neutral sound profile, resulting in clear and present vocals and lead instruments with a touch of extra emphasis in the bass range. It offers an immersive surround sound, thanks to its two rear satellites. As a result, sound objects like helicopters flying overhead seem to come from an accurate, pinpoint location, and you feel like you’re right in the middle of your favorite movies. Have an LG TV? You can sync it to the bar’s speakers using its 2021 LG TV AI Processor, which uses the TV’s processing capabilities to create a more immersive sound. Simply check the manufacturer’s website to confirm that your LG TV model is compatible.
This soundbar offers a versatile performance overall. But it’s not perfect. When you play the bar at max volume, there’s some distortion present, which audiophiles are likely to recognize as affecting the clarity of their audio content. Also, compared to other manufacturers’ premium models, there’s no built-in voice assistant support. If you want to control the bar with your voice, you’ll need to buy a third-party voice assistant device like a Google Home separately and pair it with the bar.
#2. LG SP9YA
The best 5.1 LG soundbar we’ve tested is the LG SP9YA. This 5.1.2 soundbar comes with some additional features that you can use with other products in your LG ecosystem. For example, you can use the bar’s 2021 LG TV AI Processor to combine the enhanced processing of your compatible LG TV with the bar’s speakers for a more immersive sound. Even if you don’t have an LG TV, it still offers a solid performance. With its AI Room Calibration feature turned on, it offers a neutral, balanced sound, so voices and lead instruments are clear and accurate. There’s also a touch of extra boom in the bass range and lots of sound customization features available.
Unfortunately, compared to the LG SP11RA, this bar’s performance with surround sound isn’t quite as impressive. That’s because it doesn’t come with discrete satellites. Instead, it uses side-firing drivers built into the bar to simulate sound objects in the soundstage, which doesn’t sound as clear or as real. For example, the sound of a car racing by in a chase scene just seems like it’s coming from speakers placed in front of you, and it doesn’t feel like you’re in the middle of the action. That said, you can purchase LG SPK8 satellites from the manufacturer separately if you want to enhance its performance.
#3. LG SP8YA
The LG SP8YA is the best LG soundbar with a 3.1 setup that we’ve tested. This 3.1.2 setup is the next generation of the LG SN8YG. It also comes with a 2021 LG TV AI Processor, meaning you can sync it up with a compatible LG TV for a more immersive sound. You don’t need an LG TV on hand to use its AI Room Calibration feature, though, as it uses a microphone built into the bar to calibrate its audio reproduction based on your room’s unique acoustics. With this feature on, it has a slightly bass-heavy sound profile. Voices and lead instruments are still clear and present in the mix, but you notice extra punch and rumble, especially with bass-heavy genres like EDM. There are many customization features available, and it also supports Dolby Atmos content.
However, compared to the LG SP11RA and the LG SP9YA, this bar’s performance with movies isn’t as great. It supports surround sound, but it has to downmix it to stereo to play it. Sound isn’t as immersive, and it seems like audio comes from speakers placed in front of you rather than from speakers placed all around you. You can still upgrade its performance, though, as LG sells compatible SPK8 satellites separately.
#4. LG Eclair QP5
Don’t have a lot of space in your setup? The best small soundbar from LG that we’ve tested is the LG Eclair QP5. It’s just under 12 inches in width, so it can easily fit under your TV without obscuring the screen. Despite its small size, it still has a decent soundstage performance thanks to its Sound Field Expander technology, which pushes audio well past the edges of the bar. It’s one of the smallest bars we’ve tested with Dolby Atmos support, and like the more premium models in LG’s lineup, it has the 2021 LG TV AI Processor, meaning it can work in tandem with a compatible LG TV for a more immersive sound.
This bar is best-suited for listening to dialogue-centric content like TV shows and podcasts, as its balanced mid-range can reproduce voices pretty clearly. However, even though it comes with a dedicated sub, it struggles to reproduce low-bass, and its recessed treble results in a dark and muffled sound. When you watch movies and listen to music, there’s a noticeable lack of emphasis in the bass range, and you don’t feel a deep thump and rumble with action-packed scenes. Its surround sound performance is poor since it has to downmix it to stereo to play it. That said, if you’re low on space, it’s still a fair choice.
